Unrivaled cellular coverage and reliability: now announcing Verizon support on EtherSIM

Seamless global connectivity has always meant significant complexity behind the scenes, not to mention the hidden burdens of carrier negotiations, certifications, API integrations and SIM management. All of this in addition to the tedious and time-consuming responsibility of constant vigilance over the ever-changing and confusing landscape of telcos, SIM cards, and data plans to ensure reliable cellular connectivity.

At Particle, our constant goal is removing the barriers to bringing an IoT product to market. We strive to simplify the technical complexity of IoT by delivering an integrated IoT platform that “just works.” In 2015, we did this with the launch of our first cellular device, the Electron, including our own bundled MVNO service. We did it again in 2021 by launching EtherSIM, delivering out-of-the-box cellular connectivity with support from 350+ carriers in 170+ countries and automatic network redundancy. Today, we’re thrilled to announce further expansion to our global cellular connectivity offering, as EtherSIM now supports Verizon! This enhances our capabilities as the leading global IoT platform, delivering the best-in-class network of cellular coverage in the US.

Previously, EtherSIM service supported AT&T and T-Mobile, which in combination, has worked well for most customers. Now, customers can access all three major US carriers – AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon – using a single SIM, making it simpler to deploy IoT devices anywhere in the US with confidence. Whether you’re deploying emergency response systems in mountain areas with significant wildfire risk, measuring greenhouse gas emissions in the Permian Basin, or controlling irrigation for crop yield in California, Particle devices will automatically find the best and most reliable cellular network out-of-the-box. So, you can rest assured that your products will connect seamlessly and stay online.

What does this mean for me?

With Verizon support, Particle EtherSIM customers can access all three major US carriers – AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon – using a single SIM already embedded into their cellular devices, starting this July. You can expect more reliable and continuous coverage, regardless of where your devices are deployed.

What do I need to do?

Talk to sales! Particle will activate it automatically for you without the need for any action on your part as an Enterprise customer. There are no additional certifications or special antennas required, so you can start leveraging expanded connectivity right away.

How much will Verizon support cost me?

We understand the complex considerations of building a connected cellular product and shipping at scale. That’s why we are excited to provide access to Verizon for cellular product development to our current Enterprise customers, at no additional cost.
